Burnam Overy is a little village close to my home, very popular with weekend sailors. I love the way the light glitters on the waves, shimmering as each wave breaks.

Its late summer and small creeks run across the marshes, with a shingle barrier holding back the sea. Cows graze steadily to the right of the marshland, and a small yacht sails slowly across the sea. This was painted on location at Cley visitor centre on a beautiful autumn day. I'd put the cows in via artistic licence but a visitor who'd looked at the work as I was painting came back to tell me the cows were just there but out of my line of vision to the left and as we were chatting the yacht sailed into view. life mirroring art perhaps, or just knowledge of the landscape. take your pick..

Its evening time on the river and the sails of the mill are still. Down by the creek some boats lay moored up for the day, surrounded on both sides by golden fields of late summer grass. The fields shimmer with touches of gold metallic paint and the creek has highlights of silver, both of which catch the light.

Soft blue sky and gentle clouds overlook the deep blue and green sea, and eddying rock pools. Three birds fly across the sky. To one side is a multi hued cliff face topped with grasses and poppies. Its a watercolour based work and has layers of encaustic beeswax colours fused onto it to enhance the water and cliff.
